JOB
VACANCIES
Apprentice
Patternmaker required.
We are currently offering a 4-year apprenticeship in Patternmaking or a shorter re-training programme in the manufacture of all types of timber patterns and moulds.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic person wanting to learn a real skill, who is
practical with their hands, enjoys Maths and DT and has plenty
of common sense and is enthusiastic to learn a skill.
So....What is Patternmaking?
On this website you will have seen lots of pictures of
a huge array of objects - from bits of buildings to water
slides. Some of the pictures show the fibreglass end product
made by our customers. However, some of the pictures show
the pattern or mould that has been crafted by us from timber
and MDF. Often the patterns don't look like wood because we
have added a textured finish or the wood has been painted.
The job of the patternmaker is to make that original timber
pattern working from technical drawings supplied by our customer.
If you
click on the Leisure Tab at the top of our home page you will
then see a series of photos. Click on the second photo that
is shaped like a duck. There you will see the pattern, painted
grey and in the photo beneath it you will see how the fibreglass
looked when it was eventually pulled from the mould that our
pattern had created.
You will
see that the possible applications for our work are very varied!
